Drawing and Painting 1
Drawing and Painting 1 is a full year course that is designed to instill a working knowledge of art making techniques, materials and art vocabulary. During the first semester, students will learn to draw from observation and references using a wide range of dry media such as graphite, colored pencil, and charcoal. Students will be encouraged to discuss their own work, that of their peers and works of professional artists. During the second semester, students will learn painting fundamentals such as color mixing, applying brush strokes and brush and pallet care. Students will learn the essential skills necessary to paint while exploring the works of contemporary and historical artists. The course will culminate with an independent, choice based project.
